The Manifesto

What we affirm: The end of the age, the Parousia, the New Heavens and New Earth, and the emptying of Death and Hades were fulfilled in the first century. The New Creation is the present reality we inhabit.
What this does not deny: The bodily resurrection of Jesus, the reality of physical death and decay, or the ongoing call to walk by the Spirit. Death as the covenantal enemy (exile, condemnation, Sheol) has been defeated. Biological mortality continues until each person’s appointed end.

1. Fulfillment, Not Expectation

We affirm that the “end of the age” spoken of by Jesus and the prophets was not the end of the physical universe, but the completion of Israel’s covenant age. That age reached its appointed conclusion in the first century, climaxing in the judgment of Jerusalem and the passing of the temple system.

“Truly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all these things are accomplished.” — Matthew 24:34 (WEB)

This was not a failed expectation or a postponed promise. It was fulfillment. The old covenant world has ended. A new covenant world has begun.

The Shift: Christian faith stands on the finished work, not on unfinished prophecy.

2. The Presence of Christ

Parousia: not delay, not absence — royal presence and reign.

The New Testament uses parousia for presence — an abiding, royal nearness. Christ has taken His throne. Christian life is lived in awareness of His nearness, not in anticipation of a delayed arrival.

“Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky… and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory.” — Matthew 24:30 (WEB)

The Shift: We do not wait for Christ to arrive. We walk with the King who is already present.

3. Life in the New Heavens and New Earth

The former order has passed. Access is open. God dwells with His people.

The passing of the “former heaven and earth” is the removal of the old covenant order — temple, priesthood, ethnic boundary. We live in the New Heavens and New Earth: access without place, ritual, or lineage. The veil is gone.

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17 (WEB)

The Shift: The barriers are down. Access to God is direct and present.

4. The New Jerusalem

Open gates of a city with light and growth flowing outward
Open gates. Life flowing outward. Healing available now.

The New Jerusalem is the living community of God’s people — a spiritual city, founded in heaven, expressed on earth. Its gates are open. To belong to Christ is to belong to this city now.

“I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God… ‘Behold, God’s dwelling is with people.’” — Revelation 21:2, 3 (WEB)

The Shift: Belonging is present. Healing flows from the city that is already open.

5. Resurrection and Life

The gospel proclaims victory over Death — the covenantal enemy that reigned from Adam. That Death was never biology. It was exile from the Garden, condemnation under the Law, Sheol as the holding of the old world. Grave and Hades were emptied and cast into the lake of fire.

“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies. Whoever lives and believes in me will never die.” — John 11:25–26 (WEB)

Resurrection life is the present inheritance of those who live in Him. Those in Christ do not wait in Sheol. Eternal life is present participation in the Last Adam — the celestial order, the image of the Man from heaven.

The Shift: We already possess indestructible life in Christ. Death as covenantal enemy is finished.

6. God All in All

With Israel’s covenant mission fulfilled, God’s nearness is no longer confined to a nation or a geography. Worship is not bound to temples. Holiness is not confined to rituals. God is all in all.

“When all things have been subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to him who subjected all things to him, that God may be all in all.” — 1 Corinthians 15:28 (WEB)

The Shift: Nearness is universal. The old boundaries are gone.

A Living Analogy

The lantern was for the night. The prophets spoke of a sunrise that would make it unnecessary. That sunrise has come. We are learning how to live in the day.

Warm light flooding a path, symbolizing life in the day of fulfillment
Not suspended between ages — grounded, present, alive.

Closing Statement

The New Creation is not an idea to defend. It is a reality to inhabit.

We do not wait for Christ. We walk with Him.
