Mark opens with the beginning of the Good News of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. John the Baptist prepares the way. Jesus comes into Galilee preaching that the time is fulfilled and the Kingdom of God is at hand. The Gospel moves with urgency — immediately, immediately — through healing, confrontation, teaching, the cross, and the empty tomb.
The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. This generation would not pass away until all these things took place.
