New Exodus Pattern

Israel’s first exodus was rescue from bondage into covenant. The prophets promised a greater one. Matthew keeps striking those notes.

Plain

Hosea’s “out of Egypt I called my son” first named Israel. Matthew applies it to Jesus so the Son carries Israel’s story and completes it. Wilderness, testing, mountain, bread, and a new-covenant meal are exodus furniture reused.

In Matthew

Matthew 2’s flight and return, Matthew 4’s wilderness test, the mountain teaching, and the feedings in deserted places say a new deliverance is underway. The tyrant this time is sin-under-Law and the old order that cannot give rest.

First-Century Horizon

The years from cross to temple-fall function like a wilderness generation. The old house is left behind. Those who follow the Son reach the unshakable kingdom the first Joshua only sketched.

Scripture

New Creation Reality

The New Exodus has a destination already: life with God apart from the old master’s house.
