The New Exodus

Striking the Sea

Zechariah 10:11 uses vivid Exodus imagery: "He will pass through the sea of affliction, and will strike the waves." This is a prophetic promise of a "second" and greater Exodus, where God delivers His people not from physical Egypt, but from the spiritual bondage of the Old Covenant.

Christ the Greater Moses

Jesus is the leader of this New Exodus. At His transfiguration, He discussed His "departure" (Greek: exodos) which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem (Luke 9:31). Through His death and resurrection, He "struck the waves" of death and judgment, leading His people into the true Promised Land of the New Covenant. The Exodus is no longer a historical memory; it is our present reality in Christ.
