Zechariah 8:3 promises that Jerusalem "shall be called 'The City of Truth.'" This was a stunning promise for a city that had been characterized by rebellion and deception. The "Truth" was not found in the stone walls, but in the presence of God dwelling in the midst of His people.
The Church is described as "the pillar and ground of the truth" (1 Timothy 3:15). In the New Creation, the "City of Truth" is the corporate body of believers. This city is not localized to a single mountain in Judea; it is a global, spiritual city that shines the light of the Gospel to every nation. It is the "New Jerusalem" that John saw descending—perfect, holy, and built on the foundation of Truth.
