In Christ the dividing wall is broken; Jew and Gentile become one new man — the New Covenant people, not two tracks of history.
Paul does not describe a delayed merger of peoples after a future tribulation. He announces what the cross has already accomplished: those who were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. Christ “is our peace,” who made both groups one and broke down the dividing wall of hostility (Ephesians 2:13–16).
The goal is stated without ambiguity: that He might create in Himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, and reconcile both in one body to God through the cross.
The wall was not merely social prejudice. It was covenantal: Law as identity boundary, Temple courts as graded access, circumcision and calendar as markers of the old administration. Gentiles were “alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise” (Ephesians 2:12).
When that wall falls, the result is not a diluted Israel or a parallel Gentile track. It is a new creation people whose standing is faith in the Messiah, not genealogy or Moses’ administration.
Acts narrates the wall’s collapse in history: Samaria receives the Word, Cornelius receives the Spirit without distinction, the Jerusalem council refuses to place the yoke of Moses on the nations, and Paul carries the gospel to the ends of the empire. The “mystery” hidden for ages is now revealed: the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body (Ephesians 3:6).
One body, one Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism.
The unity is present tense in the apostolic letters — not postponed until a later age.
The cross creates the one new man; AD 70 removes the institutional stage on which the old distinctions still claimed public authority. When the Temple fell, the graded courts, the daily sacrifice, and the priesthood that policed the wall ceased. What Paul proclaimed as accomplished in Christ was confirmed in history as the old house disappeared.
You do not wait to become part of a future ethnic program. If you are in Christ, you already belong to the one new man. Access is by faith and grace. The peace Christ made is not a ceasefire between rival covenants; it is the end of the old boundary system itself.
