In Zechariah 8:7, God promises to "save my people from the east country, and from the west country." This was a prophecy of a global ingathering that transcended the physical borders of Israel.
Jesus explicitly applied this language to the Gentiles when He marveled at the Roman centurion's faith. He declared, "I say to you that many will come from the east and the west, and will sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the Kingdom of Heaven" (Matthew 8:11). The ingathering is the present reality of the Church, where people from every language and nation are gathered into the spiritual Israel of God.
