Fruit is the test. Title is not.
Israel already had a history of prophets who said “peace” while the city was under sentence. Jesus puts that lawsuit on the people listening to Him.
Matthew 7, 24, and the woes in 23 belong together: shepherds who devour, signs that deceive, and a house about to fall.
Josephus and the apostolic letters both describe deceivers in that generation. Matthew 24’s false christs sit inside “this generation,” not outside it.
The New Creation community is still told to test fruit. It is not told to postpone Matthew 24’s wolves to a later age.
